The latest title in the Metal Gear franchise has been revealed at a press conference in Japan along with the new Fox Engine.

Konami unveiled the latest game in the Metal Gear series this week titled Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes stars Snake of course and he’s looking much younger then he did during Metal Gear Solid 4; by this observation we can construed that Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is most likely a prequel in the series. Obviously Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes is not Metal Gear Solid 5 which was rumored then debunked by Konami during E3 2012.

According to the folks who were at the event, the new Fox Engine, which ran the demo for the game, is absolutely stunning and gives the game a slightly more open feel. Unfortunately we don’t have any of the footage to show off but we do have the first piece of official art which looks amazing.

Neither Konami or Kojima specified platforms, a release window, or whether or not the game is a next-gen title. Hopefully we will get a formal look at Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and the Fox Engine soon, maybe at Tokyo Game Show?
