Assassin’s Creed 3 is set to be released next week and will wrap up the story of Desmond by exploring the life of another assassin in his family tree, Connor. Ubisoft has confirmed today that the game has broken the company’s global pre-order record.
Assassin’s Creed 3 is the fifth game in the Assassin’s Creed franchise and a follow up to last year’s Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. Though Brotherhood and Revelations were yearly launches, Ubisoft has been working on Assassin’s Creed 3 for over three years and this extra development time might have a positive effect on the quality of the game, something that fans of the series have had concerns over as the title has become a yearly release.
Pre-orders for the game have doubled the numbers of last year’s Revelations, which was Ubisoft’s previous record-holder. This sets Assassin’s Creed 3 up as one of the biggest releases of the year. We will know just how good the game is when it is released next Tuesday but for now the pre-order numbers are quite impressive.
Assassin’s Creed 3 will be available on October 30th for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and November 23rd for the PC. A version will also be coming to the Wii U when that console is launched in late November.
