There are so many superb titles set for release in 2013. Classic titles like Bioshock, Dead Space, Crysis, Grand Theft Auto, Metal Gear, Sly Cooper, God of War, Gears of War and Rayman are returning this year with fresh installments in their respective franchises.
With so many premiere franchises putting out new games, it was honestly very difficult for me to just pick one title as my most anticipated. After a long, heated debate with myself (yes,I argue with myself) I finally decided my choice for most anticipated game of 2013 would have to be Grand Theft Auto V. Grand Theft Auto has been a favorite of mine since its inception in 1997. GTA has been a perennial bestseller and award winner in almost every game in each franchise to date and this time around will be no different.
The reasoning behind my selection is very simple. To me, there is not a single game on the entire planet that combines the fun factor and story telling ability that GTA offers. There is no other game where you can raise all different kinds of hell for hours upon hours while also still being able to be involved in a dramatic, enticing storyline.
According to the calculations made by art director Aaron Garbut, Grand Theft Auto’s Los Santos is bigger than the worlds of Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and GTA IV’s Liberty City combined. I can’t even explain how excited I am to explore this expansive area of Los Santos. I can only begin to imagine all of the different environments, characters, and missions that will be available to play.
I have a hunch that Grand Theft Auto V will be one of the best selling games of all time. After Grand Theft Auto IV sold around 3.6 million units on its first day of release (selling 25 million as of 2012), I fully expect GTA V to produce similar numbers, if not greatly out do the numbers achieved by GTA IV. GTA V is rumored for a spring release and I genuinely can not wait! I will undoubtedly be waiting in line at my local GameStop midnight release to get my hands on a copy of this bound to be classic game!
What is your choice for most anticipated game of 2013? Do you agree with my selection of GTA V? Or do you think I’m a complete idiot and want to run me over with a Turismo GTA style? I’d love to hear what your opinions are on this nerdtastic debate!
