If you’ve managed to take a long enough break from plasma-cutting your way through Isaac Clarke’s latest Necromorph-infested outing to read this, then you’ll be delighted (or terrified) to hear that Isaac’s journey won’t be quite over yet once the credits start rolling. Dead Space 3 publisher EA revealed today that the game is receiving some new story-based DLC, titled “Awakening”, next month.

EA is staying tight-lipped in regards to an exact date (for now all they’ll say is “in March”) as well as what exactly the DLC will entail. They did reveal a little teaser description however, saying that players will “experience the franchise’s darkest chapters as the Necromorph battles become even more gruesome and terrifying than ever before.”

Dead Space 3’s executive producer Steve Papoutsis had his own enigmatic remarks to add, saying that of all the content featured in the entire Dead Space trilogy, Awakened contains “some of the most disturbing.” That’s quite a claim considering all of the disturbing moments featured in the first two Dead Space games (eye-needle segment anyone?) but I guess players won’t have to wait long to see if Awakened holds up to Papoutsis’s praise.

Awakened will be available on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC through Origin for $9.99 (800 Microsoft Points).
