The improved Wii U edition of Team Ninja’s Ninja Gaiden 3, which added the moniker “Razor’s Edge” to the title, is being ported over to Xbox 360 and PS3 according to a confirmation by Tecmo Koei Europe.
Tecmo Koei’s confirmation follows on the heels of rumors that sprang up this morning after a leaked product listing of the port was spotted on Famitsu. It’s a strange sort of homecoming for Razor’s Edge since the original Ninja Gaiden 3 was released for Xbox 360 and PS3 with the Wii U edition (Razor’s Edge) following soon after the console’s debut.
Now Xbox and PS3 players who want to try out the Razor’s Edge edition without buying a Wii U can do just that…they just have to *buy* the Razor’s Edge edition first. Heck, maybe if they still have their original Ninja Gaiden 3 copies lying around they can trade them in to help cover the costs.
For those who don’t know, the Razor’s Edge edition includes a healthy number of tweaks and extras including improved enemy A.I., new weapons and Ninpo attacks, an upgrade tree that allows players to unlock extra goodies like new weapon combos and new costumes for Ryu, and a trio of lovely femme fatales who double as playable characters: Dead or Alive’s Ayane (a recurring face from previous Ninja Gaiden games) and Kasumi, and Dragon Sword’s Momiji.
Current listings place the release date for the Xbox/PS3 port of Razor’s Edge at April 4 for Japan and April 5 in Europe. No concrete date has been set for the North American release date but many are speculating that it will be April 2 judging by traditional worldwide schedules in relation to the Japanese and European dates.
