Videogame parody musician and video maker brentalfloss extended his reach into the webcomic realm back in July of 2011, but the most recent strips have shifted their focus from their namesake to classic (and not-so-classic) video game deaths.

Modeled after the classic Gashlycrumb Tinies cartoons by Edward Gorey, depicting the humorously tragic demises of hapless children, these Game Over Tinies strips assign a cruel and ridiculous fate to a well-known game character for each letter of the alphabet. Some of the depictions address actual ways to die in their respective games, while others are original, but equally funny. All are done up in black and white a la Gorey, and it goes without saying that spoilers may abound.

Blocks of A through F and G through J have already been posted, on Tuesday and today, respectively. Whether there are enough cruel fates to extend the twice-a-week posting until the remainder of the alphabet is covered, or if things will be cut short sooner to allow resumption of the regular comic’s thrice-weekly schedule, remains to be seen. Either way, enjoy the tribute, and check out the regular brentalfloss comics while you’re there.
