World of Warcraft Patch 5.4.2 is now live and it adds a number of features including the In-Game Store, and cross realm mail.
World of Warcraft patch 5.4.2 doesn’t add any new raids or content, but it does add some nice quality of life features. The long awaited in-game store is now open for business. The in-game store allows players to buy premium mounts and pets, previously available on the Battle.Net Store, instantly. After purchasing the items, they instantly appear in your inventory, ensuring you wont be waiting around for your Celestial Steed mount.
Blizzard is also allowing players to send items across realms. Heirlooms and other account bound items are now eligible for cross realm mailing using a simple syntax input. However, there are some limits. Blizzard is still restricting your gold and non-account bound items to your server.
Blizzard is also adding some cross-realm functionality to the raid finder. However this isn’t the raid finder Blizzard promised during Blizzcon, which will be included in the next expansion, Warlords of Draenor. Blizzard Community Manager, Lore, writes “6.0′s Group Finder is an entirely different thing being built from scratch. It’ll allow you to find or create groups for basically any content you can think of, be it raids, dungeons, PvP, questing… heck, you could start a group for running laps in Dalaran if you wanted. It also won’t be hidden away someplace that the majority of the playerbase won’t notice — it’s gonna be a lot more front-and-center.”
