This has been a good year for games but, as always, some bad ones slipped through the cracks. Here is VGU’s pick for the worst game of the year and the results of the reader poll.
VGU Staff Pick: Aliens: Colonial Marines
Back in 2006, Sega made a deal with Twentieth Century FOX to make a game based on James Cameron’s 1986 film Aliens which was a sequel to the 1979 Ridley Scott film Alien. The game took place after the events of Alien 3 and was about the Sulaco being spotted over LV-426 instead of its last known location: Firionia 161 (Fury 161). You were playing as a squad that was going to the Sulaco to find any survivors of your forces. Hilarity ensues as you fight through waves of xenomorphs and have things end nearly the same way that they do in the Aliens vs Predators game from a few years back. The game was a complete flop with absolutely no one liking this bad game.
VGU Reader Pick: Aliens: Colonial Marines
What a surprise, Aliens: Colonial Marines was picked for being the worst game of 2013. Among the bad games were The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, Fighter Within, and NBA 14, the resurrection of the series which ended up being a bad game in its own right. Colonial Marines received 50% of the vote while Survival Instinct and Fighter Within received 20% each. This left NBA 14, a bad game in its own right with 10% of the vote.
That’s it for the worst game category. Check out the other category winners on VGU, including the Game of the Year.
